I am slowly gearing my interior design passion more towards boating and less towards commercial / residential design.

Last week we had a mechanic over to check out S/V Barefoot's engine for her 3,000 hour maintenance check up. It costs around $95 an hour for him to come out but it is definitely worth having the peace of mind that everything is still ship shape!
Derrek took the access panels and doors off of the engine to help make accessing the engine easier for the mechanic and even loosened a few bolts to make the process go smoothly.

For Thanksgiving Dinner we even met Harold and Margie who were on a charter of their own at Boca Chita and hosted everyone on board S/V Barefoot combing Margie and I's meals together for a lavish feast. We had 10 people comfortably dining aboard S/V Barefoots in our salon!
On Friday we had the opportunity to fill in for Harold and skipper Island Dreamer as the race committee boat for the Melges 24 Regatta hosted by the Miami Yacht Club. The Race Committee boat carries the race judges and is responsible for anchoring at the start/finish line and carrying all of the equipment necessary for the race including flags, floats, buoys, time boards, sound signals, etc.
Overall there were 20 Melges that were competing from all over the world, including Germany, Italy, Canada, and the United States.
We had the pleasure of meeting up with an adventurous couple from Minnesota who sailed with us almost 3 years ago in the Florida Keys!
They were sailors then, taking all of the ASA courses up to 104, but were on their power boat when they joined us in Miami for a few days. They trailered their beautiful Sea Ray from Minnesota all the way to the east coast of Florida for their month long adventure south to Key West. We had such a great time catching up and enjoying South Beach sushi via a scenic dinghy ride. They even turned us into power-boaters for a day (we loved it!) as we ventured ocean side to snorkel half moon wreck just off of Virginia Key.
To follow their adventure check out their blog here: The ICW Floats Our Boat
Derrek and I just finished up a family vacation / learn to sail charter throughout the Florida Keys with a lovely family from the New York area. It was a pleasure to have everyone on board and were able to experience a lot that the keys have to offer from sailing, swimming, snorkeling, touring State and National Parks, enjoying dinner and drinks at unique Tiki bars, and even got in a few rounds of fender rodeo!! Check out photos below of our fun filled week!
My favorite camera and memory card decided that this week was its last (right in the middle!) so we had to switch between my old cameras and the GoPro. If you have a favorite brand that works great on the water or takes exceptional pictures in bright sunlight feel free to email us as I'd love to know what you've found that works best!! Enjoy!
