Our goal for her is to turn her into a fun little pocket cruiser that my family can fly down and use in the Keys / Miami area to gain more sailing experience and one that I can use on my days off to store my "toys" (kayaks, bikes, paddleboard, etc.) in. She is also my experimental boat, as an interior designer there are so many possibilities I can see a boat as having if you were to live aboard her....this little boat is hopefully going to have many of them so I can see what works onboard, and what doesn't before I ruin a larger boat down the line ;)
Aka...what have we been up to?
Lately Derrek and I have been living the life on our recent, much enjoyed days off!!
Sleeping in (feels awesome waking up and making coffee around 9am/10am), doing projects til past noon, then going ashore (shopping, laundry, internet, running, rollerblading, you name it! til late).
We also love to cook, and try new foods on our days off. Yesterday for dinner, Derrek found a new Buffalo wing sauce which we marinated over chicken breasts. Its not quite charter ready - still a little too hot for our tastes (and those who know us know we love our hot sauces!).But here is the link to the recipe we found: http://www.myrecipes.com/m/ recipe/buffalo-chicken- 50400000109609/

There is never a dull moment when you live on a boat! ....for us, its a week or two of charters, then a few days of boat maintenance to get us ready for our next wave of charters.
Some projects are small (just make living aboard nicer) and others are more important such as installing a new windlass or anchor light fitting on the top of the mast. Derrek and I have been pretty excited on what we have accomplished in our five days off so far. We were able to install a new windlass, a new kitchen faucet, scrape the bottom of both our dinghy and small sailboat "Kermit," and even organize the tool closet!

Derrek and I are currently liveaboards living in Miami, sailing frequently to the Florida Keys. We live aboard "Morning Dance" a 1979 41' Morgan Out Island, a short rigged Ketch. We keep her anchored off of Watson Island (conveniently located between Downtown Miami and South Beach!) where we base most of our charters out of.
We are Captains and ASA instructors that specialize in "Couples Cruising Charters." We work for Island Dreamer Sailing School and have the privilege of living aboard their boat, Morning Dance full time as we do charters.
This is an extremely fun, thrilling, relaxing, simple, yet sometimes challenging lifestyle to do full time. We are creating this blog to share our experiences, adventures and tips with you about this livelihood that we love.
Below are pictures (Interior and Exterior) of the boat we live on, Morning Dance.
